Job Description

We are seeking a highly driven Sales Development Representative (SDR) to join our fast-growing sales team. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their career in sales within the tech sector, and make some big bucks along the way.

The selected candidates will participate in Kwara's comprehensive 6-month training program. We will teach you all about great prospect qualification, consultative selling, product demonstrations and leaving no money on the table. From one of our previous SDRs who participated in this training: "Kwara has shaped me, and built my sales skills and confidence beyond imagination.". After your 6-month training in Nairobi, you will be placed in any of our 5 active regions in Kenya.

On a daily basis, you will:

  • Learn, learn, learn
  • Generate new leads
  • Qualify SACCOs who want to grow
  • Deeply understand challenges and goals of your qualified leads
  • Consult clients on how we help them reach their goals
  • Demonstrate our growth engine, including our mobile channels and core banking system
  • Negotiate contracts and support onboarding
  • Collect commissions; the more the better!


We only select candidates that fit our primary criteria for sales success at Kwara:

  1. Personal Drive: The internal motivation to succeed, work hard for success and take work at Kwara seriously
  2. Coachability: The hunger and ability to learn from theory and practice, and apply it to day-to-day work
  3. Inquisitive: The mindset to question information received from clients or others, and act accordingly
  4. Strong in Heart: The ability to accept rejection, learn from it and grow confident in one’s ability

Our interviews and case studies are designed to test you actively for this. You should only apply if you are ready for an intense interview process, including an in-person session at the Kwara House in Lavington, which requires preparation, roleplay and active engagement with our Sales Manager and Co-founder/COO.

We also care about the below secondary requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong desire to learn about technology sales and a keen interest in pursuing a career in sales
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, English and Swahili
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and work really, really hard


We can tell you all about the insurance (outpatient + inpatient), company laptop, unlimited learning budget and great startup culture, but let's be honest: if you are the perfect SDR, you think in dollar signs. Here's how you can earn, a lot:

  • Base KES 40,000 gross salary monthly. This is to cover basic needs, but not meant to be the whole package.
  • Comp plan for all revenue gained from SACCOs in the first 6 months; on target commission is KES 30,000 monthly (but we've seen this go up to KES 1,000,000). This is huge because Kwara has three big revenue streams that you can earn commission from. The upside here is unmatched - our SDRs have purchased cars time and again, moved to larger houses, sent their kids to great schools and travelled to Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and beyond with commissions from Kwara.
  • Revenue bonus on company goals. This amount of KES 10,000 monthly accrues and is paid out for specific company revenue goals. This ensures you work together with the whole team to grow the company revenue.
